These faintly familiar intervals
Running through my mind
Now bring on a feeling
Of a completely different kind.
I hear the notes played
A style of march so grand
It seems done so proudly...well, except to those who know better,
By the orchestra and band.
A warm up scale—nowhere near as in tune
Now sounds empty.
Lacking structure
Lacking me.
For nearly 13 years.
I've been looking forward to this day
Why now am I so anxious not to leave?
Pomp and Circumstance begins to play…
I can feel it in the air
For those who care
There is a pall over them
Conflicted
I'm not so sure what's to come
Whatever's going to happen…
It will ha

Animal Lost, Friendship Found
I found it at the lost and found
While rummaging through it today.
Among discarded coats and books
Was a rope with a definite fray.
The pile connected to the rope
Was moving side to side
I tried to find out to what it led
To find out what was inside.
I pushed discarded books away
I sifted through the bog.
And to my utter surprise, I found,
Here sat a puppy dog!
I took that canine out of there.
I brought him home, I got him fed
I gave him kibble, brushed his hair
And put him in a doggy bed.
Now me and Fido are best of friends
Years now into our future.
Our love for each other never ends!
And I've even taught him Euchre!
Snow
Whispers peacefully through the ether;
Flutters down toward the cold earth;
And joins it's brethren in the snowdrift.
Like
A newborn kitten, the powder feels so
Light and fluffy to the touch. Not yet
Able to be packed, it is white and pure.
Waiting
For the chance to become one again
With the air, it sits patiently until spring.
Two donuts sitting in the window
How I wanted to devour each.
These little flakey pieces of dough
Made my stomach want to carp and row
One filled with apple, the other peach.
In heavy contemplation I stood
Finally deciding on the last.
The glaze of the pastry just as good
Just as pleasing on the counter's wood
Either are perfect to break my fast.
There were no samples to help me choose.
Looking back, my choice was truly fair.
Even though, of course, I stopped to muse
Both donuts did I choose to peruse
Apple was left sitting in the air.
Peach was not the norm, but just as fine.
I ate it as I went on my way.

I.
Yesterday I was born. Poetically, of course
Actually, it was almost twenty years ago
However, I guess that's not the point of this poem,
Even though (and I must hope so) it seems to flow.
I remember running around quite naked
It's more cute and beautiful when you're young.
Old women coo, parents look away bashfully,
But it's quite okay, I do say, because the spring of life is sprung.
And how it springs! Those whacky things!
The younglings often more the sprighte

'Life Saving Headphones'
"Lifesaving Headphones"
"If it weren't for those headphones, I'd be dead." Armando looked at the prized item fondly.
Jeff scoffed. "How is that even possible?"
"Well…" Armando said. "Let me tell you."
Flashback
"I was down in the Grand Canyon on vacation. I had ridden down on a burro, but he had broken his leg on a rock and could not climb up the steep crags. Oh, yes. They were steep crags. So steep that I could not make my way up them without a donkey. However, I had my music with me. I had figured the trip down would be boring, so I had it with me to entertain myself while I was riding a stinky donkey in a bunch of rocks. I
I woke one morning, in my silken bed
My feet click loudly on the marble tiles.
I eat my breakfast at this table's head
This room, so empty, seems to stretch for miles.
The people here in this town, they idolize
My clothes and all the trinkets that I wear.
If only they knew how much that I despise
These god-forsaken things that make them stare.
They think me God. They think my life is grand.
I am but cold and morbid as a stone.
What all these people fail to understand
No one who is happy is alone.
This warm summer's breeze only chills me more.
I can not stand this lonesome dread I feel.
I'd give a hundred pounds of gold, or more
If I am not for my self, who will be for me?
I go to bed thinking, "Who am I?"
I wake up asking, "What am I?"
I sit up wondering, "Why am I?"
If I am only for myself, what am I?
I toss a coin into a poor man's hat.
"He's just probably going to buy drugs with that..."
"Shut up!"
If not now, when?
...curse you Hillel...
I love the smell of resin in the morning.

Beethoven? Strauss? Mozart?
Not when this trio hits the stage.
Cellists not playing classical music?
Who'da thunkit...
Cellists, three of them, doing things that would make Van Halen go weak at the knees.
Cellos??! With AMPLIFICATION!?
AND DISTORTION?!
Well shit, that has to be impossible...
There are no words needed to convey the emotion these three feel.
All they need are twelve screaming strings; bows threatening to snap; and three aged, classical instruments shrieking with metal angst.

I'm alive. College has started. I've got about an hour before class but I will get new things uploaded within the next week.
I hadn't checked on DA for an entire summer. Needless to say, I was swamped with backlog. Something to the order of thousands of things. I had to delete most of them. T_T.
